So it's only natural that online student communities are beginning to form in the virtual world. Second Life is a virtual community where members connect for a variety of reasons. At the beginning of the 2009 school year, the University of Maryland introduced Second Life to all of its first-year students to help them get acquainted, according to Virtual World News. California State University (CSU) also uses the Internet to bring people together. CSU's Stanislaus campus has an online student community page on Facebook that has members from California and abroad. Sharing experiences can be a good way to build relationships, and pursuing the same line of study is no exception.
