Kaplan University Launches Master's and MBA Degree in Legal Studies and Criminal Justice
Davenport, IA – Jan. 31, 2008 – Kaplan University, a leading provider of online higher education, announced today the launch of the Master of Science in Legal Studies (MSLS) degree, an MBA emphasis area in Supply Chain Management and Logistics, and a Certificate in Management and Supervision in Criminal Justice, disciplines that are experiencing increasing demand in the job market.
"Kaplan University's programs are designed to help students compete for jobs in some of the fastest-growing industries," said David Clinefelter, PhD, Provost of Kaplan University. "We are dedicated to providing new degree programs that meet the demands of the job market and provide students with the education they need to reach their career goals."
The online MSLS program is designed to give students a comprehensive legal education without the pressures of law school or the Bar Exam. Students in the MSLS should gain a comprehensive understanding of legal terminology, the legal system and how laws influence society. The 55-quarter-credit program includes core courses, such as jurisprudence and legal research, plus intensive study areas that allow students to tailor their education to their interests. Graduates of this program may not provide legal services to the public.
The online MBA Supply Chain Management and Logistics specialization is designed to provide students with an understanding of how companies use supply chain networks in the acquisition, production and delivery of goods and services. In addition to the 52 quarter credits required for the Kaplan online MBA degree, this specialization includes 16 quarter credits or four additional courses—Supply Chain Management, Inventory and Distribution Management, Managing the Service Value Chain, and Strategic Global Logistics Management.
The online Management and Supervision in Criminal Justice Certificate program is designed to meet the increasing demand for qualified criminal justice managers. Students in the certificate program will study supervisory practices in criminal justice, management theory, best practices in human resources and organizational behavior. The certificate requires 36 quarter credit hours and can be completed in less than a year.
Enrollment for these programs begins immediately.
