Master of Science in Nursing - Acute Care Track
Liberty University’s Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) program prepares nurses for advanced practice as Adult/Acute Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) or as Nurse Educators. Clinical practicum experiences are tailored to meet the individual interests and learning needs of each student. With the guidance of faculty mentors and approved preceptors, students develop clinical practicum goals and objectives based on their specialty areas of practice within either the adult health care or educational setting.
Graduates of this program are prepared to practice as Adult/Acute CNSs or Nurse Educators in a variety of clinical and educational settings. Moreover, graduates possess the critical thinking skills and knowledge needed to promote the profession of nursing through teaching, clinical practice, program development and implementation, and scholarship.
Prior to enrollment in Liberty University's M.S.N. Online program, potential students are encouraged to research their respective State Boards of Nursing for information about clinical nurse specialist practice and certification relevant to the nurse practice act and requirements for certification. Prospective students should also contact their state’s Department of Education to verify access to practicum sites while enrolled in an out-of-state online program. Most M.S.N. courses are offered in an 8-week format year-round. The Adult/Acute CNS and Nurse Educator track courses are 14 to 16 weeks in length. There are no residency requirements for the online M.S.N. program.
This program will not prepare you to become a Nurse Practitioner.
